Welcome to the Señora Gerena blog! This school year, I am teaching Spanish at the Bates and Philbrick Elementary School in Boston. I meet with students once a week in grades K-5th. My students will build a foundation of the Spanish language through listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as acquiring an appreciation of Latin American cultures. A wide variety of methods and techniques will be used in class to engage each student. It is my goal to provide a learning environment where every student can feel comfortable developing and discovering the advantages and challenges of being bilingual.
If you are a parent or a guardian, please encourage your child to practice Spanish at home. In this blog, I included a few videos and online resources so your child can practice Spanish at home and in the classroom.
